Streambox and Inmarsat set new standard for real-time delivery of broadcast video over global satellite network

Streambox, a leading supplier of real-time video transport solutions for broadcasting, satellite, and cable, has partnered with Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications, to facilitate the transmission and delivery of low latency, real-time broadcast video to users of Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service at data rates from 64 kbps to 256 kbps.

The Streambox ACT-L3 video transport solutions give BGAN users a compact and reliable solution for plug-and-transmit video transport in regions with poor or nonexistent telecom networks.

"The combination of the Streambox ACT-L3 video transport solution with BGAN already is taking live news gathering to a new level for major broadcast networks providing coverage from remote or challenging environments," said Harry Tayler, Manager of Enterprise Solutions at Inmarsat. "The partnership of BGAN and Streambox is a compelling combination that will transform satellite newsgathering. BGAN's smaller, higher bandwidth terminals together with the Streambox ACT-L3 solution can be rapidly deployed all over the world and easily used by non-technical staff."
