Sony launches new Bravia rear projection TV

October has seen the introduction of an exciting new Bravia rear projection television from Sony.
These new models offer a flat screen TV experience that produces bright, natural images that are easy on the eye, thanks to Sony’s new 3LCD technology. What’s more it is Digital-enabled ready for switchover and High Definition ready.
3LCD technology uses three projection panels instead of one to deliver brilliant pictures with natural image quality, sharp detail and rich colour free of break-up. Unlike “single colour wheel” technologies 3LCD provides a constant, bright image. Cinema Black PRO greatly improves the contrast ratio by firstly dimming the lamp and secondly reducing the aperture of the lens.
3LCD works by dividing the light emitted from the lamp into the three basic colours, red, green and blue. Each coloured light is then shone through separate liquid crystal panels thus ensuring excellent colour reproduction.
The Sony KDF-E50A12U is the perfect option for consumers wanting to purchase a flat screen television for enjoying movies or for gaming. The inclusion of a PC Input means the TV can be connected to a computer or Playstation for gaming or surfing the Internet.
Another important feature is the incorporation of a 3D comb filter, responsible for separating the colour and brightness information from the signal transmitted to the TV. A 3D comb filter is designed to ensure better image quality with natural looking colours. To ensure a flicker free picture, Digital Constant Image is also featured ensuring pixels are only switched in the areas of the picture where changes occur.
High Definition broadcasts will begin in 2006 and the KDF-E50A12U is capable of recreating superb HD quality images that have been described as akin to looking out of the window. Models also feature a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) that can transfer digital information without signal interference. One particular feature that separates 3LCD models from some Plasma VGA panels is that 3LCD TV’s don’t have obvious ‘chicken wire effect’ caused by a low resolution panel that are not HD ready.
Digital Switchover is also an important consideration and the 3LCD models feature integrated digital tuners that allow users to currently receive over 30 Freeview TV and radio channels including BBC News 24 and E4. With OFCOM’s recent confirmation that Digital switchover will commence in 2006, and the confirmed regional rollout sequence for analogue signal in the UK, these new models will be ready.
3LCD models fall under the new Bravia (Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture) brand for all of Sony’s new flat screen TVs. Sony recognises that the market has changed significantly since the Television was invented over 50 years ago, moving from analogue to digital, CRT to flat screen. High Definition functionality and networking capability are also at the heart of all the new products from Sony as the company recognises that image clarity is the priority for today’s HD ready generation of consumers.
The KDF-E50A12U is available now.
