Set on an eight acre site five minute’s drive from central Belfast, the building contains four 16,000ft2 (1,487m2) 'cells'. The cells are set out in a square and connected by an internal road and streets.
Each cell is 90ft (27.5m) tall and has one 3ft (1m) thick external 'wall' that is actually a 75ft (23m) tall door.
None of the cell ceilings is external and the building is 'double-skinned' thereby reducing noise pollution. The facility also offers a suite of offices, toilets, a canteen, several large stores, a 'green room' and has its own internal electrical substation which provides 110v, 240v and 3 phase power to the whole building.
The terms and conditions for the rental of the Paint Hall will be negotiated on a production by production basis.
Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, therefore all spend within Northern Ireland also qualifies for the UK tax credit. This is available in addition to Northern Ireland Screen’s production finance which is currently £sterling 800,000 maximum per project.
