I have over 30 years experience as a broadcast lighting cameraman and director of photography living in Glasgow, Scotland and working throughout the UK. I have worked with most of the current HD cameras (Sony, Panasonic, etc.), RED, Photron SA2, CineAlta HDCAM, 3D, Panasonic P2, 16mm film and 35mm film and was recently presented with the RTS (Royal Television Society) photography award for Earth Flight (camera team), and nominated for a BAFTA for the same programme.

As a freelance cameraman I am very used to working abroad in places such as Australia, Panama and the Middle East. TV camerawork includes wildlife, documentaries, commercials, drama and features. I am equally at home undertaking large lighting set-ups or working in harsh environments.

I am a fully qualified CAA microlight aircraft instructor with over 6000hrs flying time.

Earth Flight
I worked with John Downer Productions on the Earthflight programme as an aerial cameraman. Many technical problems had to be solved during this production, for example the weight of the cameras, electrical interference from aircraft engine ignition circuits and keeping the birds in the right position for the shot. Flying in such an exposed position with two very heavy cameras was physically very demanding. Often the weather caused problems but when it all worked out it was fantastic.
