05/08/2008BATMAN CLASSIFICATION DEFENDED BY FILM BODY
the british board of film classification (bbfc) has defended the classification given to the latest batman movie the dark knight. more than 80 complaints were received about the film's disturbing content despite a 12a certificate being given. sue clark, the film regulator's spokeswoman said the film was a "fantasy movie with only implied violence". the joker played by the late heath ledger uses a knife as his main weapon and he is subjected to blows dealt by batman in the interrogation scene. the bbfc say that the sequel adheres to the rule of the 12a certificate, as the sequences do not "dwell on violence" or "emphasise injury and blood". keith vaz mp, chair of the home affairs select committee, is unhappy with the certificate and say...
